Career & Skills Pathfinder is a career-matching app you host yourself and own outright. A person says what they can already do, and the app shows which careers need those skills, how far away the rest are, and what specifically to learn to close the distance. It runs against your own Supabase database; nothing is reported back to anyone.
What it does
- Onboarding in three steps: who you are, your skills, your preferences.
- Discover: every career is scored against the selected skills and grouped into strong matches, good matches, worth exploring and longer paths.
- Roadmap: for one career, each requirement is marked as met, below the level asked for, or not on your list. Core requirements count twice as much.
- Save careers and come back to them. They are re-scored as your skills change.
- Learning plan (optional): with your own AI key, the real computed gaps become a short ordered plan. Everything else works without it.
What is included
The complete source code, and a starter set of 80 careers, 147 skills, 522 search aliases and 498 career-to-skill links across 18 industries. These are general occupations, from care work and hospitality to data engineering, not just technology. You also get the full PostgreSQL schema with row-level security on every table, a script that checks what loaded, a guide to extending the careers and skills, a README, a quick-start guide and the licence.
Requirements
Node.js 20 or newer, and a Supabase project (the free tier is enough). The Learning plan is optional and needs your own AI key; everything else works without it.
What it deliberately does not include
So that nothing promises more than the code delivers:
- No salary data. Figures vary by country and year, and inventing them for career advice would not be acceptable. The field is there for you to fill.
- No ready-made library of courses. The space for learning links exists and ships empty, so you can add links you have checked yourself.
- No promises about outcomes. A match score measures how much of what a career asks for has been selected. It is not a prediction that anyone will be hired.

Licence
Commercial source-code licence. Use and modify it for yourself or your clients, rebrand it, and run it as a public or paid service for your own users. Reselling or giving away the code itself, or putting it into a template, course or code marketplace, is not permitted. No warranty. It compares skills with what careers typically ask for; it does not give careers, educational, legal or financial advice.
