Fake urgency badges get ignored. Real ones convert.
Visitors have learned to tune out “12 people are looking at this right now” banners that never change and never feel real β because most of them aren’t. Social Proof Badges takes the opposite approach: it tracks genuine views with its own lightweight counter and only shows a badge once a post or product clears a threshold you set. Below that threshold, it shows nothing. No fabricated numbers, no plugin dependency β just honest social proof that visitors can actually trust, which is exactly why it works.
Social Proof Badges vs. the alternatives
| Feature | Fake urgency plugins | Analytics-dependent plugins | Social Proof Badges |
|---|---|---|---|
| Numbers are real, tracked data | β (randomized/fabricated) | β (if GA/GSC connected) | β always, self-contained |
| Works without Google Analytics/Search Console | β | β | β |
| Hides badge below a minimum-views threshold | β | Rare | β β never shows a fake “popular” tag |
| Works correctly with full-page caching (LiteSpeed etc.) | Varies | Varies | β (client-side counting by design) |
| Trending “Top N this week” badge | Varies | Varies | β |
| Ongoing cost | Often subscription | Free/paid mix | One-time payment |
What’s inside
- Own built-in view tracker (a dedicated database table) β never depends on Google Analytics, Search Console, or any other plugin being active
- “π X views this week” badge β only renders once real views clear your chosen minimum (default 10); shows nothing below it, ever
- “π₯ Popular this week” trending badge for your top N posts/products by 7-day views, site-wide or per category
- Built to work correctly under full-page caching β both the view count and the badge itself are rendered client-side, so every visitor sees accurate, un-cached numbers
- Configurable time window, minimum-views threshold, top-N count and scope, badge placement, and view-count throttling (so refreshes don’t inflate the number)
- Read-only “Top 10 Most-Viewed This Week” dashboard table so you can see what’s actually resonating
FAQ
Will it ever show a badge with a made-up number? No. If a post hasn’t genuinely cleared your threshold, no badge appears at all.
My site uses full-page caching β will the view counts be accurate? Yes. Both the recording and the display happen client-side after the cached page loads, specifically to stay accurate under caching.
Does this need Google Analytics connected? No β it tracks everything itself in its own database table.
Can I set the threshold lower for a newer site with less traffic? Yes, the minimum-views threshold is fully adjustable in Settings.
Honesty note: this is a single-site license for one WordPress installation. It’s a self-contained plugin with no ongoing subscription β future feature updates aren’t automatic, so if you’d like a newer version down the line, just get in touch.
