Shiplog — Self-Hosted Changelog & Feedback Board (Source Code)

Shiplog is a complete, self-hosted product feedback board and changelog system — the indie-developer alternative to Canny and Beamer, without the recurring per-tracked-user or per-MAU billing.

Canny starts at £15–78+/month and scales steeply with tracked users (up to roughly £400+/month at just 1,000 users). Beamer charges roughly £39–197/month, and its feedback/voting board and NPS survey are each separate £78/month add-ons — a full stack runs roughly £235/month at 10,000 MAU (approximate GBP conversions from their USD pricing). Shiplog gives you the same core toolkit as a one-time purchase you host yourself for £49.

What’s included:
– Public roadmap board with Planned / In Progress / Live columns and anonymous one-vote-per-visitor upvoting
– Changelog with Markdown formatting, tags, and cover images
– A dependency-free embeddable JavaScript widget — one script tag adds a “What’s New” button with an unread-count badge to any website
– Automatic email notifications to subscribers when a changelog entry is published
– A token-protected admin dashboard to manage roadmap status and write/publish release notes
– Full TypeScript source code: Next.js 14, Prisma ORM, Tailwind CSS
– Seeded demo data so it runs immediately after setup
– A README covering setup, moving from SQLite to Postgres for production, and swapping in a real email provider (a working Resend code sample is included)

Note: this is a single-tenant build intended for one product/project per deployment. Admin auth is a simple token, not SSO. The included README documents all current limitations in full.
